DORA "DOTTIE" SUDENGA

1920 - 2008

Dora “Dottie” Sudenga was born August 20, 1920 at Sharon Center, Iowa the daughter of Rev. C.G. and Olive Mae (Houdeshel) Zeigler. She attended grade school in Marshalltown, Iowa. Her folks moved to George, Iowa and she graduated from the George High School.

She was united in marriage to Jay Sudenga on June 24, 1940 at the E.U.B. Church in George, Iowa. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of George, until it closed. Dottie and Jay wintered in Mesa, Arizona for a number of years, coming back to George in the spring. They later moved to Texas to be near their family.

Dottie is most remembered for her joyous spirit and her love for the beauty of God’s creation. Flowers were a particular interest to her. She spent her life supporting her loving husband in all his endeavors. She spent much time in her later years with her daughter Peggy and in prayer support for each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and others.

She passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the age of 87. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Peggy and husband Bill Hewes of Tomball, Texas; one son-in-law Barry Anderson of Spring, Texas; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Bonnie Zeigler and Bette Chervenka.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jay, one daughter Joan, two brothers, and four sisters.
